We have our first duck egg pip!
My son had a friend over and he helped collect eggs. I handed him 2 duck eggs and asked him to bring them inside. Do you know where that stinker put them? In the incubator! A child after my own heart. 🤣 I didn't really mean to do a staggered hatch but maybe it's...
Yes, only the new ones are in the house. The other 2 hatches have been moved outside for some time. I'm trying to get them acclaimed with our pekin drake whos a jerk. I have 1 neighbor with 11 chickens and another with about 15 so I'm trying to keep up! 🤣
We ended up with 8 chicks! We started with 12 eggs, had 2 quitters, 1 didn't make it out of the shell and still have 1 pekin duck egg that's a week behind. Not too bad!
The one that didn't make it out had a very small air cell and showed no signs of progress past the internal pip. So, last...
Yes! I am amazed at the difference in home hatched chicks vs store bought when it comes to how tame and friendly they are! Still 1 pipped, 1 zipping now and 1 to go. I'm going to make a safety hole in the morning if the last one still hasn't pipped externally.
We have 6 little fuzzballs, 2 more are pipped and 1 to go. Also 1 duck egg that will be a week behind the chicks because we had 1 extra spot in the incubator. 😆
Just went on lockdown today with 10/12. Some looked to be internally pipped already, but hard to see with dark shells. I too have various sized air sacs. Odd. Hopefully we will have fuzzballs soon!
