Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

I like to stop in and check up on you all, but I don't have the time to be an active participant on very many threads. I've missed you too. :hugs That would be the new "project manager" icon. They changed it a couple months back.

Busted! Hi, whites. :hugs It's been a while.

Hi whites. Sled dogs are all snowed in, they've decided to hibernate. I can't blame them. I agree with you about the rubber bowls. Plastic just doesn't work in this weather... the slightest tap on the edge will shatter them.

Sometimes I wonder if he manages to even believe himself. There is nothing wrong with hugging chickens—I am most guilty in that department—but there is something majorly wrong with comparing euthanizing a sick rooster with the Holocaust, which did indeed happen on another thread. I think you...

Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

:thumbsup Great post. I'm not the best for camera recommendations because I haven't bought one in about 15 years.

Only when I have to, which unfortunately is about four times per day.

Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Looks like the thread's gone. And just when I had read a few pages of Smuvers giving her what she deserved.

Quite true. She should know that October is the month of hopes---and November is the month when they're dashed. Every year it seems as if maybe we won't get a bad winter, until we do.

It sure is! It seems to get even colder after you have a week or two straight of those temperatures. Poor birdies. That makes more sense. 9 week olds are still rather sparse in the feather department.

What temps? Just a bit below 0? -20F like she had is pretty hard on them... I had 16 wk bantams that couldn't take -30F even for a night. Don't know if you remember but one almost died (and would have if I hadn't brought her in that night) and one lost multiple toes and all the skin off her...

NS is warm as far as CA goes, AB (where she is located) will get down to those extremes but not often. I believe she is including the wind chill which is nonsense to me because there's no windchill in a coop as long as you built it right. Record all time low for AB is -61*C. I think that would...

Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Was that on her "it's your fault for telling me that a chicken doesn't need heat in general and I followed that and the chicks died" thread? It is my belief that for those of us in a climate significantly different from average we must use common sense and not simply advice from...

Hopefully she has more than one!

If they don't apologise then I take a while to forgive or forget. I will forgive immediately though if they apologise sincerely and rectify the situation. Repeat offenders will be treated civilly but ignored as much as possible. It also depends on how bad the transgression was. That's crazy...

Throw it back in on the line as bait for the real fish. :P

She's been cooped up ever since the snow got above the birds' heads, so not sure how she could have hurt it. :hu
