Several times, last year, I would find an egg in their water bowl as I emptied it at the end of the day. I use the large size gravity-fed systems meant for big dogs. Once I would credit to accidental deposit. Multiple times takes more backing-up, and adjustments skills than I would have given...
Consistently getting 6 a day from my Muscovies. They better keep that up as I have eggs to be picked up on Wednesday (need 2 more) and Saturday, that haven't actually been laid yet. lol
I know ... Don't count your chickens ....
That's what I wanted as well. When I was getting 6 - 7 a day during our fake spring, I posted them for sale instead. Now that winter has returned, and I have orders for 4 dozen, only getting 3 a day. Come on duckies - I'm 8 eggs short and pick up is Saturday.
I have a small diverse flock so always get a variety of sizes. A fun challenge when a recipe calls for 2 eggs - maybe 4 small ones or 1 regular and 2 small ones?:)
During the summer months I usually get 8 eggs a day from 8 ducks. This usually slows to no eggs by this time of year. I told my egg buyers we were done until spring but then we had an unusual heat spell for a week. More eggs - argh - honestly I'm done with eggs until next spring.
