    Silkies - They’re simply SPECTACULAR!

I've got a box of silkies now. Gotta cull the undesirables and then see how many that lessens. Wish I could tell which were males yet so I didn't accidentally cull those

    Silkies - They’re simply SPECTACULAR!

It's so cold here I've been scraping frost off the inside of the lid to their coop. Never happened before this winter. Silkies seem to be handling it okay though, even the young ones.

    Silkies - They’re simply SPECTACULAR!

I'll have to get some images of the ones I have right now, see if anyone here can guess what most of the chicks are. At least they're being used. Something has to happen with the extra birds, especially if they're male. Better than killing and tossing. It tastes like chicken as far as I know. They're smaller than most birds, but still possible to prep and cook.

The only paint breeder I know that seemed like a safe choice sold all of her stock last fall

Does anyone have any place that they trust to get dominant white silkies from? I really would love to get some, but I'm quite wary of just getting ebay eggs due to disease risk

Maybe cochin heavy? He doesn't exactly have to be 75% silkie, he just has to be lucky enough to have two parents that carry at least one silkie gene to each give him one
