If you get lemon cuckoos and buffs from Bobbi you can expect more of the same! This baby didn’t have a vault but she already has a very floofy head! She is really beautiful - I think Bobbi offers some of the nicest looking silkies that I’ve seen!

Debbie, thanks for the reference to that thread! I have a hen that is black with a brown head and neck (I call her a gold birchen though I actually have no idea what she is - she was born solid black, not partridge) anyways I was thinking maybe I would end up with chicks in a similar pattern or...

    Debbie's Silkies

@janiedoe Sorry this is not the best photo but you can kind of see the faint “stripe” pattern on her. Or is it just my eyes playing tricks on me?? She also has a hint of red to her comb which makes me think cuckoo. She’s about 8-9 weeks old (and hopefully she is a she!! Her comb is tiny which is...

Oh Debbie, so sorry your egg order was delayed :( That is so sad! I probably would have been so impatient that I would have said “just send me whatever you have!” 😂 the buffs will be worth the wait though! Remind me how many buffs you were wanting?? Question for Debbie and everyone else too - I...

Edit: I re-read your post - is the picture a cockerel? Sorry from this angle he looks all pullet 😂 And he doesn’t have his red comb and wattles yet! Original post: What a gorgeous cuckoo pullet!!!! Ugh you’re making me want to try and get more cuckoo eggs! I had 1-2 in with my Bobbi order but...

I agree with @2ndTink keep the adorable frizzle and rehome the NN roo. That frizzle is so beautiful! It reminds me of two frizzle chicks that I have that are “silver laced satin” they don’t have the awesome cuckoo tail though 😍

    Debbie's Silkies

They are both so so pretty!!!! I think for me - if I was going to use the roo for breeding - I would probably have a slightly easier time letting him go because of the orange leakage on the head - I try to avoid leakage when possible, I know that a lot of Roos have pretty significant leakage...

I love your plans Debbie!!!! That is so exciting!! When you said lavenders were you talking about the porcelains or are you actually going to be getting some lavenders??? :fl:fl

Thank you, it was heartbreaking for me as I have wanted blue cream and lavender for so long now. I have considered ordering more from Bobbi but the timing hasn’t worked out and now I’m about to start my incubator for the last time of spring. So maybe next year I will be able to order some more.

Where from? I am still crying about the blue cream eggs that I had from Bobbi that shrink wrapped and I lost them. One made it out alive but died shortly after, it was so weak after the shrink wrapping. Oh and I did get one chick out of the blue cream eggs but it’s a black chick 😆 No idea how...

    Debbie's Silkies

Oops while I was typing my huge long breeding info for paints I see that you already know all of that info from your last couple of responses to people 😂 if you don’t have a black rooster you could ask Bobbi to put in some black eggs for you 😉 Or, don’t you have some black mottled?? The mottled...

Oh my gosh!!! I am so excited for your Bobbi eggs!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ahhhhh I can’t even wait! Isn’t she so nice? Lol I love her! I hope you get a whole bunch of gorgeous porcelains so I can see all the pics and be extremely jealous 😂 Seriously I can’t wait to see her babies when you hatch them. Also...

    Debbie's Silkies

I do think that the mottling genes affect the beak/skin/foot color!! Honestly I love the black skin/beaks on silkies so that is one reason I had shied away from mottled and cuckoo in the past. And another reason I was confused about my mottles, because they all have black or partially black...

    Debbie's Silkies

Debbie, so glad you’re feeling a bit better! I can’t say for sure but I would guess that the two which hatched out of the paint eggs will be black when they feather out. To me, they look like silver based black. I could be wrong though! And I believe the little one with the yellow head is a...

    Debbie's Silkies

Yes that is a great point! I hadn’t heard that the white belly and wingtips are linked to silver, but I should try and find out!! I always called those “penguin chicks” lol! But yes as in many other breeds (marans and ameraucanas just to name a couple) the solid colored blues and blacks always...

Debbie, so happy you are starting to feel better!!! The picture of the silkie babies is so gorgeous. I love the silvery white one in the front. I will be very interested to see the (supposed) mottled. In my recent hatch I had 3 eggs hatch that were labeled mottled (one is solid black, 2 are...
