That's how I took it on the last article up there (feed store owners wonder..) I was warned off of flea markets & swaps d/t the other diseases that some have come across at them, & that seems to be the focus.
Nor do I. For that matter we don't eat a lot of chicken, period, but buy a lot because I make our dogs' food, so I notice when there are purchase limits of 2, or none at all.
This was it - I knew it had been awhile back - last July http://www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls-alerts/tyson-foods-inc.-recalls-ready-eat-chicken-products-due-possible-listeria
Did a brief search to see if I found anything, as you stated, bad roosters, covid, production supply (paper, foil, etc) & staff, trucking issues. This article talks about water issues & intended down trend in production. Aka just more depressing news...
I think Tyson was already in the barrel d/t covid and some other infection in chickens. As usual, I don't remember what that infection was, just remember thinking of karma bc they didn't protect workers when covid kicked up.
Indiana cases have all been turkey farms in 2 counties, and one wild...
A suggestion- consider the questions we have, meaning of non-poultry, what do they do when they find one infected wild bird- list questions in this thread thn we can send to [email protected] - the project manager for USDA APHIS
Lol- and now I see someone already said that. At some point in researching all of this, I read that migrating birds are vectors to most viruses, human & otherwise.
In addition to common vectors, they're now including the sparrows and rodents as spreaders. A short time ago they were primarily pointing at waterfowl. There are limits on chicken meat purchases here now,and empty shelves.
That's what I was thinking that the key word was "husbandry" - which I thought meant anyone raising, breeding & caring for - but in this instance means commercial?

I'm just catching up with this thread, so came across yours. Some are putting up tarps. I don't know what your set up is, bird netting won't help. The new area we're building will have 1/2" hardcloth top to bottom, and I'm thinking about running door/window screen over the top to keep out the...
