Thanks. She has 2 friends to play with right now. 3 more to hatch.
So here's my question. Anyone know if wing sexing Austra Whites work like normal??
I've been reading and it's unclear but at least I found the coined name for my little mix.
Well. After a day of heartbreak yesterday and a fearful night of losing the crushed egg chick I woke to.... VIPER!!!! The miracle chick that I thought would die. I was thinking Miracle but my kids said name it Snake. We settled on Viper. Boy/ Girl. Works both ways.
I've been heartbroken. This morning I had 12 about to hatch eggs under hen.... After church I see one that looks to be half crushed and only 5 others. I've looked for signs and have found none. My guess is a snake.
The one with a crushed she'll still breaths but idk. I'm giving the poor thing...
Thanks for the idea... Unfortunate I don't have a crate. I've gently moved momma and eggs into an enclosed plastic nest box with a bottom and roof... She hopped right in and started barking at me so....

Well it happened.... I turned my incubator off, cleaned it up and put it away saying no more babies until the new coop and brooder are built. I just moved a broody I found with 12 eggs into a safer area. it's storming outside and the poor nest was under a board that floods.
Had 14 but 2...
Final count... 6 cute chicken chicks ( 4 black Australorp and 2 white leghorn/Australorp mixes) and 5 ducks healthy. 1 last duck needed help to zip. Poor thing tried to pip both sides or got rolled or something. Not sure if it wil make it. Ducklings have been sent to their mommy. They were her...
Woke up this morning to a text. My friends order of chicks were all DOA when they got to the post office. So sad. Then I went into my chick room and find this..... They think I'm mommy. They huddle under my hand when I go in there.
