the main difference between this list for ducks and goslings/geese, is tat geese may not like as many of the live animal treats like goldfish. I hear they like worms, but they are mostly vegetarians and don't eat fish. Someone can correct me on this for pet geese. I'm still learning about...
we try.
hopefully I'll have some ifo soon to update it. We've experimented with making "cakes" with "frosting" for ducky birthdays, made them muffins, ect that I'm sure everyone would love recipes for. We also make a "DE soup". I hope to have time soon to add those to the list of fun treats!
finding the raw apple cider vinegar can be difficult in some areas, but sometimes you can find it at grocery stores. But if you can get it from an orchard, that would be even better.
i updated a couple more treats on the list for ducklings... Anyone have suggestions for which treats they've given ducklings (and at how many weeks?), for example, have you successfully given ducklings pears or bananas and it doesn't have a next to it yet?
i started giving my ducklings grit around 2 weeks old or so... not sure if there is a certain age or not. it helps in digestion. i'd just sprinkle a little bit in their feed. if your ducks are not foraging, grit willo need to be added to the feed all the time. if they can root around in the...
my ducks will only eat floating sticks when it comes to fish food... they hate the round balls... lol, any one successfully feed their ducks the balls of cat fish food?
I do have feeder gold fish up there... my goofballs will only eat the fish if i put them in their water bowl... (a large...
I've added the symbol next to treats for ducklings... And i've added a section about ducklings to the first part of the first post... hopefully this helps people who've been wondering!
i've updated the list again, to include cat/dog food under the protein section.
Any ideas on using apple cidar vinegar? if it works well i'd like to include it in the supplements section.
ah, thanks wifezilla... I've never heard of that before... perhaps i should ad that to the supplement section.
any idea how it works exctly? or suggestions on a dosage?
alrighty... updated the list....
as for apple cider vinegar, i am not so sure... i know it have a diuretic effect in humans and doesn't seem like a good idea for ducks.
i just got white clover seeds from my feed store and am experimenting with growing them in cups for my duckies... they are inside now and don't get out as much so i grow them grass too... they seem to enjoy eating up.
as far as age, baby duckling can start getting greens in the firs week...
does anyone else have suggestions for star ratings? i guess i should get around to feeding my ducks some of those foods huh?
yesterday they got white meat from a rotisserie chicken, a little bit of rice pilaf (washed and strained it a bit to get the margrine off and rinse away some of the...
As for the spinach, If you type in "Spinach hinder calcium birds" you will get a ton of websites telling about the problems birds can have with spinach.
Birds have a hard time absorbing calcium, hence why we have to give our ducks oyster shells. They can not absorb enough from just their food...
anyone know who to talk to about making this a sticky?
I'm nt sure if spinach has the same calcium absorbtion problems in humans asit does in birds/ducks. I'll try to do some research on it.
Thanks for more ideas guys! If anyone has more ideas or can tell me what they think a star rating...
Since I often see posts about what treats and supplements you can give your ducks, I thought I would compile them.
There are many many food items you can give your ducks other than their feed/scratch/foraging. Giving your ducks treats and supplements to their diets is good for their health...
