I know that for chickens it is up to 2 weeks, and the fertility rate drops off sharply after that until basically 0 at 1 month, but what is it for ducks? If one of my hens mated with a drake a week ago and they have been separated since then, can she still be laying fertilized eggs?
And would...
One of my Ancona girls has begun to lay!! While I have observed some mating (or attempts) going on, I’m not 100% my drake is successful yet. He is still young.
I have four mallard ducklings and want more, I'm wanting them to hatch fertilized eggs but don't know if there siblings. If they are brother and sister will the eggs not get fertilized? Or is there any way to tell if they are siblings.
Hi guys,
Some of you might have read I had three pet ducks and I'm almost convince I've narrowed the predator who took my babies to an owl. I live in NJ and this winter I heard their scared quack and my boyfriend checked on them and a huge Snowy Owl was sitting on their hutch staring at them...
I got 4 eggs from my cousin that owes a egyptian duck, goose, (not sure). And he said he had them for 1 week but he says he isnt sure. I put them in a homemade incubator (I'm getting a good incubator soon). I candled the eggs but I can't tell. I can send more pictures if anyone needs them...
