Hi I'm getting 12 shipped fertilized bantam eggs in the mail today. I did not want to hatch out that many eggs. I only wanted 2-3 at this time. Is there any way I can store these eggs to hatch out down the road? Any ideas with refrigeration etc?
I just received my delivery of Silkie eggs. I opened and unpacked the eggs. I put them in a carton large side up. Now I'm letting them sit for 24 hours then I will put them in the incubator tomorrow. The eggs do feel cool to the touch. I hope they are viable with being shipped in the cold...
So I went to rewater my incubator and opened the bator and hear a peep. I freaked when I look and see none other than a pip in an egg.. it's in the auto Turner and I don't know where to proceed from here. I need the egg out of the Turner as it's a big bator with a whole turning platform. No...
Hi all,
I'll be incubating my first batch of shipped eggs soon and have been reading about different procedures people use for them. I have seen a few people mention letting them set longer and, once they are in the incubator, NOT turning them for the first week. The explanation for this was...
My eggs went in at 10 am on the 7th September.
When would you say lockdown is? The manual says 27-28 days to hatch. 3 days before is lockdown. But three days before 27 or 28 days? Also with the ones with saddled air cells should I still lay them on their side? If yes with the saddled part up or...
OK,
I know a lot of people have a lot of trouble incubating shipped eggs. I got 12 Cayuga eggs. One was smashed on delivery and went in the bin. One was infertile.
So I now have 10 of 10 fertile eggs on day 18 moving vigorously.
The air cells aren't good some worse than others and I even...
I ordered two dozen eggs from a local breeder here in Arizona and its turned out to be kind of a disaster. Firstly, I'm 15 and have been saving my money to be able to afford this breeders eggs, they are $50 a dozen and I bought two dozen. I may be young but I've been raising chickens for years...
I have shipped Call duck eggs, which I checked today (day 5), just to see the ones that were looking promising because I've heard how tough they are to hatch.
I'm rather happy because 7/10 are looking pretty good, but one or two of them have rather large dips in the air cell. I know that can...
So I recently got shipped chicken eggs and put them inside a circulated incubator (without a turner) and the left overs inside another incubator but with a turner and still-air. I found that some eggs more in the incubator with the turner had embryos (day 4) that were halfway into the air sack...
Thank you for looking and trying to help!!!
So I got 8 rainbow eggs shipped (my first ever shipped eggs I'm hatching and I've only hatched a batch of local EEs once before and had %100 hatch rate with that, doing dry incubation) and I also got two cream legbars "locally" (hour and half away)...
I have been buying hatching eggs online, because I live in the middle of no where with hardly any good breeders/hatcheries around.. I fully understand that hatching shipped eggs is a gamble but dang.. I have been having horrible luck.
The first two hatches I bought local..
Set 4 quail eggs only...
