Hi guys! I've recently added a silkie chick to my family and I'm wanting to begin potty training she's 4 weeks old now and I'm not quite sure what to use in the letterbox any suggestions? Anything to eliminate the odor would be great too! She's an indoor silkie and would like to keep her inside...

Introducing my Silkie Babies! And is the Black chick a different breed??

Hi these are my new Silkie chicks! It is my first time hatching chicks. I had my Silkie eggs shipped and hatched them in an incubator. I am new at all this but it does seem like my black chick is a different breed because he has a round fluffy crest on his head where the others don’t. Is this...

    Are Silkie roos Loud?

Hello everyone! This spring will be the second time I get silkies and silkies aren't sexed when we get them so there is a chance that I will get little roos. Last spring I got silkies and I only got girls which was good as some of our neighbors don't like all the crowing. But I want a rooster...

    Silkie Roo

Do Silkie roosters protect baby chicks?I’ve noticed that my Silkie rooster doesn’t really seem to care much. Wierd how he doesn’t peck them like he did to the ones that were two months old. Even when I’m not around I still keep a close eye just in case but so far he doesn’t seem to mine them.

Hi everyone! How you call a showgirl with straight feathers?

Recently I had a batch of baby chicks 15 were born, but 2 of them didn't make it. Now few days later I see one of the little showgirls growing straight feathers. That's weird but I guess my Cochin bantam got on her. My very first showgirl like that tho... so how you call them chicks?

    Thinking about getting a Silkie

Recently one of our chickens died, and now we only have two. I want to get two more. I was thinking about getting a Silkie. I heard that they are docile, heat resistant, and pretty good layers. Could you share your experiences with Silkies? I live in Houston, so they need to be heat resistant...

    Silkie chicken care

Hello. I am new to silkie chickens. Getting a few in April. I’m wondering what extra care they need. Will they be fine in an insulated coop all winter? Do i need to add heat or bring them in at night? Are they generally fine with regular sized hens who are very friendly and gentle? Thanks! Katie
