I've got quite a bunch of incubating going on as I've been buying eggs plus hatching my own. I'm having issues keeping track of it all. I would do another hatch along but that does take a lot of work and sometimes I don't give it as much time as I feel I should.
Thus, a couple folks...
Hello All!! I am completely new to this community. I’m located in sort of central Wisconsin. I live in the country on an old farm with my husband and two little boys. We have 3 cows and 3 dogs. We plan to get chickens in a few months and I know very little about caring for them. So I’m thankful...
Hi! I'm Noelle Reagan. I own and operate Native Colors Exotics in Big Bend, Wisconsin (Waukesha county). We are the proud headquarters of The Serama Club of Wisconsin , and I am the state rep for the Serama Council of North America.
We have a very active group of people that regularly get...
I've got 8 week old silkies, and out of the 8 I hatched most are cockerels. I'll be keeping 3-4 of the cockerels. The rest of the cockerels will be available for free.
We're in south central Wisconsin.
I've included a picture of the first cockerel to rehome. He has started crowing already.
Title pretty much says it all. Do I need to have vapor barrier on plywood, purlins, then foam closure strips, and then roof? Or will birds do just fine with just the metal roof on purlins. It will have very good insulation as it is a Woods Open air coop. Thanks in advance for any answers!
Hey all! We’re new (well, we will be this spring) chicken owners! Planning on starting small, 6 or 7 chicks, and building a coop. SW Bayfield County, where winter apparently has no intention of going on PTO anytime soon!😉
Hi everyone! I got my latest batch of chicks from the Racine Farm & Fleet. Turns out that two of my pullets are cockerels. I have a Brahma Roo (who, minus the spurs, seems to be fully mature--he tried mating with my three year old Easter Egger) and an Easter Egger cockerel (who is still sweet...
Sooo I ended up with almost all cockerels out of my silky and satin chicks… I need someone to take my Roos- either separate or together.
-7 weeks old, very sweet babies that love to sit on laps and get pets and attention.
I don’t want to have to cull them they are way too sweet and gorgeous...
We are looking at building our own coop. 8x8 lean to shed type. Hubby is a contractor but I’m having a hard time explaining how to properly add ventilation and insulation to our coop. We live in northern Wisconsin with temps in the winter dipping to -20 fahrenheit. Summer temps are highs in the...
I have 4 hens: 1 black australorp, 1 buff orpington, 1 barred rock, and 1 speckled Sussex. They are very good chickens and would love the company of even more friends. I’m moving to North Carolina and unfortunately, will no longer have a house or a coop. Currently located in Libertyville, IL...
Hi! We got week-old chicks from the local farm and fleet in Wisconsin, but the lady on duty wasn't sure what they were. We also think that one may be a cockerel. Any ideas? The tan stripes are really throwing me off - maybe they will change over time?

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has samples of letters they have written to their local board for a allowing chickens and/or for ordinance/law change to allow them?
Thanks!
Hello! I’m planning to purchase some lavender Orpington chicks to be delivered mid-April, but the minimum order requirement is more than I can raise. Is there anyone in Southeast WI who would like to go in on the purchase with me?
