I wanted to start pumpkins, turnips etc but figured I waited to late again

I usually do too. Last year we got them in early enough, but the ducks got thru the chicken wire & ate them down to the dirt while I was out of town.

No measly chicken wire this year.

I start mine in pots the 2nd weekend in May. That and I grow short season pumpkins only. Right now they are trying to take over the garden.

I even had volunteer pumpkins that came up in the garden before the last several freezes. They survived and have pumpkins on them now.

We didn’t plant anything this year except the pumpkins. I want to grow them across the entire garden. I have visions of a fabulous graveyard pumpkin patch at Halloween.

Maybe this is the year The Great Pumpkin will come. “Sincerity as far as the eye can see!”

Of course not. It decided it was time to go to bed. It flew off and then came back to the nearest flower and went back to sleep.
