I went out to work on the sun shade and looked down to see a herd of ducklings running around! They were due to hatch (28 days) yesterday, probably hatched overnight. The real mom is actually a black swedish. When the white crested had the last of her eggs fail, she abandoned her own nest and co-incubated the swedish's nest. Now she appears to be claiming the swedish's babies as her own! She is the dominant of the two ducks. I have to go out in a bit and quickly baby proof the water situation. Then a post to craigslist!
