The new EcoGlow Safety 600 Chick Brooder is ideal to raise up to 20 newly hatched chicks or ducklings (10 to 12 older chicks depending on age and size) and is suitable for any waterfowl or game-bird chicks and for classroom hatches.

The new EcoGlow Safety Chick Brooders use a metal warming plate to even out hot and cold spots which occur with plastic heat plates and to improve heat radiation. The new flared skirt design retains more heat further reducing energy use.

Unlike other chick heating plates the Brinsea EcoGlow Brooders run at 12 volt from a mains transformer supplied—a much safer option than mains voltage and features a generous 10 feet power lead. Its 4 adjustable legs allow you to adjust the height according to the size of the chicks.

Key features:

  • Safe 12 volt operation from a mains transformer supplied
  • Extremely economical to run—uses only 12 watts
  • Easy height adjustment for different chick sizes. One end of the panel may be set lower than the other
  • No disturbing light—chicks are adjusted to a natural day/night cycle which improves weight gain and feather growth
  • Suitable for up to 20 newly hatched chicks
  • An indicator light confirms the brooder is connected
  • Convenient 10 feet power lead
  • Durable, easy to clean construction plus a clear plastic cover included

Contest Details:

To enter the contest, you'll be creating an article in either Feeders & Waterers or Incubators & Brooders in the BYC Learning Center. Click the links above to be taken to a new article page where you can begin writing and uploading pictures. Once you are finished, reply to this thread with a link to your article!

Deadline: 4/26/21 at 11:59 PM Pacific Time

Things to include in your page:

  1. Start with a finished build picture at the top of your page.
  2. Have a write-up of how you built your feeder/waterer/incubator/brooder. Include any information you think would be helpful to other people who may want to build a similar design.
  3. If you have them, include the designs & plans you used to create your build, as well as a list of parts and their prices.
  4. Pictures of your build as it was being constructed.
  5. Finished pictures of your build.
  6. A list of things you want to change or add to your build.
  7. Additional information about what you learned, what you'd do differently the next time, and any other tips for potential builders.
To increase your chances of winning the contest, make sure it has as many of the elements above in as much detail as possible! Here are some additional hints to help you win the contest:
  1. Follow the format of some of the existing feeder/waterer or brooder/incubator pages.
  2. The more details and pictures the better!
  3. Plans, plans, plans. Very few of these DIY designs have plans available. If you post plans (rough or detailed) of your build you'll get bonus points for sure!
  4. Pictures—we all love lots of big, beautiful, and helpful pictures!
  5. Remember, this is a contest for the most helpful feeder/waterer/incubator/brooder build page and not the best looking build.
IMPORTANT RULE: ALL pictures MUST be uploaded to BYC and not hosted on other sites like Photobucket, personal websites, etc.

NOTE:
We want all types of builds. Small, big, simple, complex, wood, plastic, etc. Everyone has different budgets, time, and purposes; we want to capture them all!

If you're one of those modest types and want to add your build to the site but don't want to enter the contest, that is fine. We'd still love to have your pictures posted to a BYC page and a link to your page posted in this thread—the more designs created, the better! Good luck, and have fun.
How do you find out who the winners were?

This is my DIY 5 Gallon Tower Feeder ^^

I built it mainly so single-comb roosters could eat without hassle from a no waste, no-spill feeder. My Crested Cream Legbar rooster was smitten with it.
