This year my kids are doing there very first broiler project for 4H. They are very different from raising layers. We recently moved them to the garage where it's warm and have a bigger brooder as we have 14 of them ( one died the day we got them we originally had 15) so for the pen we have to have 3 of the same sex and weight, how do you tell the sex so young? Also how did you manage to keep which one is which, we are weighing them weekly and have kinda marked feet with sharply but it comes off sometimes.. also they said something about keeping them awake at night and stirring them up, do people really do this? Wake up at night to make sure they are eating?

How old are your chicks and what breed did you get?
I would not wake up at night...lol.
I highly doubt they need to be stirred up to eat...I'm sure they will eat enough on their own without the stirring.
