Here we go, the usual question 😅
I think I have an abnormal roo or an abnormal pullet 😅 I know, i know, it's too early to tell 😊
I'm not expecting anybody to be sure so lets just play a guessing game 😉 I will do some updates because i absolutely hate threads with no ending 😐
Big comb, slightly pink (combination od yellow, orange and pink I'd say), small light pink wattles. (S)he has a female hatchmate, they look very alike apart from the combs. Both are big. They are almost 5 weeks.
(S)he is calm, extremely friendly, no other chick is that friendly (not even other Australorps - i have 6 black ones a week younger both males and females). Not interested in chest bumping at all but is the bravest one of all. At first I was convinced it's a roo but now i'm not so sure because the comb doesn't seem to be turning red.
S(he) is the one on the left:

oh my, they're gorgeous! I'm sorry I can't really help you, as you saw I'm having my own problems with my abnormal chicks 😅 I don't even know this breed, by the way I would say pullets now. my white one already had bigger wattles with 5 weeks and still people say it could be a pullet, so if she is, yours must be pullets!

Thank you 😊 I've been reading like crazy (Australorps threads) and was convinced that I was becoming an expert 🤣 well, it doesn't work when it comes to your own chicks 😜

The comb looks male to me, but I find that there is a confusing period for my Australorp flock around 5-7 weeks when I can mistake a fast-maturing pullet for a slower-maturing male.

Time will tell.

P.S. BEAUTIFUL chicks. I wish White Australorps were more common in the US. I like white chickens and I love Australorps.

@3KillerBs any thoughts?
I am inclined to pullet.
Oh, I wish she was 🙏🙏🙏 I cannot keep roos 😔

You're not wrong. The comb... And it is not the case of the last few days only - it started growing early. That's why I decided it was a male. Now I'm not that sure. Time will tell 🙂

I'm in love with them. So beautiful. Funny thing is, they meant to be black 🤣 I was quite shocked when they hatched 😅

An update after a week - its comb development seems to have stopped and it is still the same yellow-orange-pink colour (looks reddish because of the light in some photos). The wattles have grown stightly but not much and they are still light pink. I think it's a she 🙊 Is it still possible that it's a slow developing roo?
I will update of course 🙂

None of my Austrolorp girls had A comb that high for well after 7 weeks. The 3 roos I had were Blk Aust/Crm LB did though. Nasty mix as it turned out, vicious to my hens so they became meat. Their RIR replacement has worked out quite well. As I just pointed out though my 3 were mutts, not simply Austrolorps so take my guess as A guess.
