Hi all

So a week ago one of our 10 month old ducks had a vent prolapse when laying her first egg. We brought he inside the house and treated her for a few days, she's healed up and back to her usual self now, we're just keeping her inside until she lays her next egg so we can make sure she doesn't prolapse again. We've kept the house cold at 10-12c, that's as low as we can go tbh, outside the day is around 8-10c so not much different, but nights can go down to 2c

My question is, should she lay her egg ok and be good to go back outside, is there any advice on the best way to reintroduce her to the other ducks? She's part of a trio, another female and 1 male. We don't want there to be any issues with her going back to the other and also back outside?

Thanks for any advise!

You can put her in a look dont touch situation for a day or so. How long has she been separated. If not too long they will likely remember each other. You need more hens for your drake. At least 3 hens per drake.
She's been separated for 9 days atm, still hasn't laid an egg so haven't popped her back yet. Just wanted to make sure there wouldn't be too many issues really, when we do put her back outside we'll stay down there and make sure she's doing ok back with the group

We was originally going to get 3 females but the farms where we got them said we should have a male for up to 3 ducks, so we went for the 2 females 1 drake, I'll see what we can do about that.
