ALABAMA!!

My silkie rooster dissappeared. The hen is in mourning.
Like he left to get a 6 pack and never returned.
It has been so dry here wild animals are coming in for water now.

I brought my little flock home and out to their new coop on Saturday morning. They settled in like champs, and put themselves to bed on their own tonight.

I still have some work to do, like blocking off the nest boxes so they learn not to sleep in them and setting up the electric poultry fence I bought to make their "yard", but things are going well. They have so much more personality than I expected! I've finally decided which ones I'm going to keep and which I'm going to sell. If you know anyone in the Auburn area looking, let me know.

Easter Egger cockerel:

Welsummer pullet (front right):

And two Rhode Island/Production Red pullets (the one in the top photo appears to have some reddening in her comb, but it was just flushing/the light - it is normally yellow/peach colored like the other pullets):

They're growing like little weeds! I can't believe they're over six weeks old now. I love watching their colors change as their adult feathers come in.
