You and thousands of others. It highly annoys me that hatcheries list their EEs as Ameraucana. EEs are not a breed any more than sex links are but they don't try to pass off the sex links as something else. Ameraucana is a breed with specific "requirements". I won't buy anything from those places. And of course farm stores list the chicks as whatever the hatchery says they are so they are duping customers as well even though they likely don't know it.

I will share some history on EE . Back in the 70s the hatcheries called them Araucana the Easter egg chicken . We developed Ameraucana from these . Then once Ameraucana were recognized as a breed the hatcheries adopted the name with their spelling . The breed history says we used Araucana as that is what they were called then . Same EE they sell today .

I agree with all guesses...

But I have never hatched self blue... so dunno how those are supposedto lookat hatch.

Curious how tall are bantam Ameraucana? My silkies are about 12” I’m thinking they will be about the same. We are planning the pop door from coop to run.

I am afraid I eyeball everything when building... no rulers used.

My littles are growing so fast. They have great personalities and have become very friendly. Their coop is ready so out they go tomorrow, I think they will be happy to have the room. I’m still trying to figure out sex I think I have 4 cockerels and 4 pullets.
