I’ve got a 2 1/2 week old Austra white that I’ve been trying to determine the gender of since I got it, it seems to grow more each day and lately I’ve noticed that it has larger legs and feet than my other chick the same age and it’s comb is already starting to grow as well, I’m worried that it may be a roo since I can’t have Roos where I live. I heard someone say that the hens have darker feet or something but mine has bright orange feet, legs, beak and comb though there are dark spots on its feet but I don’t think that means anything. Any ideas?

I have an Austra White that is just over 3 weeks. She's my only Austra White, and she's always been bigger and heavier than her hatch mates (Orpingtons and Australorps). I attached some pictures of her at 17 days. Her comb is much bigger than any of my other chick's combs, and she just feels hefty. I think (hope) it is just the fast maturing leghorn in them. Fingers crossed for pullets!

Yeah, looks a lot like mine but ne has much more orange feet

i agree with kiki, i thought my Austra white was a roo for a long time. i learned comb size does not mean roo. her comb is HUGE! it was large from day one. it was larger than your is. she's 22 weeks now, laying eggs-so i know it is a girl. her waddles are normal size. i just kept looking for pink in the comb (which didn't come until she was ready to lay) and watching the "saddle" feathers. good luck to you. don't despair-enjoy your chick, they are so sweet when tiny.
