Bad luck I guess

I hatched 5 chicks, they’ll be 6 weeks tomorrow. I’ve had issues with one getting aggressive that I posted about. I wanted to cull him, so I asked everyone if they thought he was male. I culled him. Now, about 3 days later, I walked into the room for a harmony of crowing attempts! They’re all crowing! 5/5 are males! Omg what bad luck!!!!

Do you have any photos of them all? Pullets will try to crow as well but biologically aren't roosters or cockerels.

Not sure what breed they might be, but the combs are giving me cockerel vibes.... I hatched 24 chicks and over 13 turned out to be cockerels ( cockerel - young roosters ), so I know the pain!

Compared to the one I culled, these barely have combs. I’ve been pretty sure Ginger was male, but I thought for sure the last one not pictured, would be a pullet.

This is Maple who I culled last week after he drew blood:

They’re barnyard mixes, mostly bantam Cochin, some MF and maybe some possible serama if I remember correctly.

My guess is sour is your chance at a pullet.

I feel your pain, I’m pretty sure 4 of 6 chicks I have are cockerels, possibly 5 of 6.
I agree sour jowls, is possibly a pullet
