Barred rock breathing with beak hanging open

My 3 year old barred rock has ben breathing with her beak open constantly. it's been happening for nearly 2 months, and I thought it may have been from the heat, but even inside the cool barn, she does it day in and day out. I'm concerned it's a health issue. she's eating and drinking, but I can't help but worry. Does anyone know what this is?

nostrils are clear... she doesn't seem in pain, and her pace of breathing is normal.

there is/was an article/thread on this site that related to this issue. I read part of it awhile back. wish i could find it for you.
