Basil as Fly Repellent

Hi all,

I sprouted some basil in the pot the other day in the hope that it would deter flies in the chickens run. Does anybody do this and does it work? Will chickens eat it?

Not sure about a fly repellent, but basil is one herb my chickens didn't eat!

X2 mine don't really bother it when they are free ranging, if they were in a run with it they probably sooner or later would. Don't know about the fly repellant abilities, a lot of the How To Repel Flies Naturally type of sites say it does, can't say that I have really noticed much difference in the areas where it is or isn't.

Mine like lemon basil, idk if it helps with flies
