Black crested White Polish

I believe, but correct me if I’m wrong, that columbia just turns spangling into lacing, granted all the necessary genes are in homozygous form.
That matches what I have read.

@NatJ I am speaking about spitzhauben spangling, which I didn’t clarify at all, but every time I’ve referenced it I’ve been meaning the type in spitzhaubens.
I thought that was the kind you meant, but I wanted to make sure no-one else reading this thread would get confused the way I was when I was first learning it :)

Wanted to add a facebook link for a farm in FL that has project black crested whites in frizzle and smooth per a post. The post was on may 10th listing what they breed and have for sale. Might be someone to get in touch with.

Fancy Farmer Florida
I'm aware of Fancy Farmer Florida, I think her farm is amazing, but this is a good link for others.

This is her first year selling BCW, also her birds are beautiful and she owns so many different colors... I've only held off so far because her birds are pretty spangled-looking as well(I first considered it a few months back, and figured if it was a defect in my line, I should hold off and just see photos others get of her birds, to know if it's present in them as well) and some sort of emu drama that occurred on facebook, apparently?

Either way, I think her birds are super cool. Her farm is really impressive, on the scale of how many birds she breeds and how well she's doing.

A dutch article(so probably best to run this through a translater unless you speak dutch) that goes over Dr. Vriesendorp's development of black crested whites in the 1900s, along with offers input on the color-
@Drewsroo, this goes over the same story that the link from facebook you provided did.
On a quick second note, the same article is also found here:

Definitely meant to share this a week ago: back on the topic of that facebook post, it links a video of Dr. Vriesendorp without audio. I found a version with audio, so yay...

Audio version:

no audio:

Along with this, Ideal poultry is no longer breeding BCW polish.

An actual update on my birds, and my thoughts on them.

I’ve been having some wry tail trouble with the boys, and am down to one. I don’t like his qualities as much as i did the other males(who all have wry tail), but it is what it is.

The male I’ve ended up with:

As for the females(who haven’t shown the issue), I ended up with 3 and all 3 will stay.

1, above, has droopy wings. Her crest is smaller and more upright, but she has a decent tail- that being that it isn’t pinched. Black under fluff.

2, above, who i think has the best physical traits excluding color. She has a nice rounded crest, holds her wings tight to her body, and has the lowest angled tail- which isn’t pinched(yay). Black under fluff.

3, above, who has the best color. She’s the one I’ve long thought to carry blue, and comparatively, she has light gray- almost white- under fluff. She has a smaller sort of spiky crest, but it’s fuller than pullet 1. She has a higher tail angle, and also a small issue of the wing drooping of which seems to come and go, but never as severe as #1.

Extra photos attached of the pullets. I’m still considering everything I can do with these birds. I’ll probably be struggling with tail issues for a while. Worst case scenario, I may outcross the pullets to a silver laced rooster-I would need to buy one- or the gold-based WCB male i already have. Both options would set me back a year or two, as I’d need to backcross the offspring to their mothers for more BCW.

It feels more complicated that I like some of the traits the pullets have, but dislike others. I do look forward to seeing their offspring though.

Edited to remove commas, which I use too much.
