I believe most yellow legged blacks are birchen based but I think black Wyandottes are partridge based.
You get a black overlay on the legs of an extended black based black.

Most black birds with Yellow legs are likely Melanized Birchen(which is not that hard to accomplish, Ml and Pg will do just that)
