I just couldn’t help myself when I went to pick up some things from my local Atwood’s. :idunno

Let me introduce you to my 6 new chicks, 3 “Americanas” and 3 bantams, all with temporary names:

lil Mama, the sweetest and most friendly of all the chicks

Chip, a pretty reddish chick who loves to spread her wings while she naps

Coco, a friendly girl who loves to relax (and eat)

Goldie, a flighty chick with a big appetite and a pretty face

Silver, the one chick I have to keep a very close eye on or else she’ll run away

And Roo, who may or may not be a rooster but who certainly has attachment issues (he cries as soon as the others get out of sight)

So far I’ve got to watch them catch ants, learn how to scratch and clean their beaks off, and preen themselves. They’ve already brought me so much joy in the few days I’ve had them!

Let me hear your thoughts and well-wishes! I can’t wait to document their life journey and my flock growth for many years to come. :wee

I have no idea what colors they’ll end up being, I just tried to pick a unique selection! Do you know what the adult version of Silver might look like?

I'm not real good with breed identification, but those feathered legs might give someone a clue. I think you'll need to wait until the chick is about 6 weeks old for someone over on the "What Breed/Gender Is This" to tell you.
