WOW! I like those last 3 brooders. Papschmitty, motoclown and CrackyMcZap have put a ton of creativity, functionality and awesomeness into each of these!

Yay, thank you! I am going to build a smaller version of it. My last one was down at ground level--I never thought of raising it up to save my back when I'm playing with the babies.

Well, I got my brooder finished...it is currently undergoing "temp. tests" to get the heating close to the reccomended level before the gals get here in two weeks (10 days!)...that way I don't fry or freeze them! I have moved the light much closer since I took the pictures, it is currently hovering about 1/2" above the mesh, but I'm thinking I'm going to have to remvoe the light guards and sit it on top of the mesh to get the temp up anywhere near 95! Barely above the mesh like that it is currently sitting at 81 degrees under the lamp. I even filled the waterer for the test because I know that much surface area can effect temps...no food though, closest thing to chick feed that I have at the moment is cat food...I don'twant the cats up there or trying to get into the room because they smell food, lol.
