So I have three mallard ducks, and, I have read a lot about brooding. It has really hot outside so I don't want to put a heat lamp by them but I did put a wool hat in their bed. I also have water they can walk in and out of. Is this enough. Is it necessary for them to have a heat lamp?

I'd provide supplemental heat - at least in the evening as they appear to be quite young. I would also limit their access to swimming water until they start to feather out. Ducklings that young are easily chilled. Good luck with them.

What heat source would you recommend?
