Broody hen

We have a broody hen but we don't have a rooster so she laid some eggs and is waiting for them to hatch which of course will never happen but I am after a new chicken anyway so I bought some fertile eggs and swapped them for hers.
will she still look after the chick
Ps. The chicks are a different type to her

Yep most hens will raise anything even other species so don't worry a lot of people switch the eggs to let her hatch what they want

Some people even give them duck eggs and they raise them just fine.

When i have a chicken that goes broody i grab all the eggs from the other chickens put them under her and she treats them as her own. Next year i plan to add some duck eggs it will work great you will see.
