Damage wise yes, just about as bad. But the gross factor more then triples when it is locusts. Geese are destructive but pretty.

When we get hit by the 17 yr.cicadas - the noise is a constant LOUD buzzing. I remember the last time they came. They(?) said one hour of exposure to that racket, could cause some permanent hearing loss.

I thought we just had them last summer? I did not notice too much difference in noise, but perhaps we do not get them in the same amount as you. You just noticed that many had red wings.
