Yes, they really are and I sure miss them... somehow.... but not the unattractive sight of mildewy leafs all crumpled up.

Would it not be more comfortable to provide shade with some blinds?

Am more concerned with function over appearance.
Mildew here just coats the leaves, they don't crumple until the frost hits them.
I have shade cloths in other places, they are not as effective as some thick vegetation.

I am thrilled and my former wanderlust seems to be rekindled just by watching the gorgeous scenery. Never knew that northern lights could be seen in Wales too!
Many years ago on a hike in northern Sweden/Finland I was able to see them, it was magic.
