I've lost one of Astrid's pullets.

I was short one on head count. I found her dead in the far corner of the pen with her left thigh eaten cleanly to the bone. Looks like a hawk kill.
They'll be locked up for the next week.

Let him. I hope he breaks his damn neck smashing into the run walls.
The flock was still on edge this morning and very jumpy. That's certainly not a bad thing for them to have their guard up.
I was late getting out this morning and not one bird had left the coop. They came out when I fed them and threw bird seed/mealworms for them in the run.
I went to collect the body and it was gone. Something pushed up the netting very near her. I didn't find any hairs on the bottom, uncharged strand so I can't guess what did that. I loosened the net in that area to close the gap.
She was in an area near the road so I think it was a critter cruising through that found her and found a way to get to her. She was going to be a meal to something regardless. I'd rather something good come from the loss.

It's morning and thanks for the coffee! Sorry, DL...
It is another very nice day here so I guess that translates into work and getting ready for winter. DS$ went to Homecoming and got home late so I am letting him sleep a bit but then it is "Help the older couple next door to get ready for Winter Too" day for him.
Enjoy the day and rest up if you can and heal up too! Hugs to the Cafe!
