Can silkies and other breeds chickens swim???

Wow, thanks for the replies! I'm glad to know at least now I know. My chickens are about 100 feet from my pool so they would have to travel a bit to get to it and there is so much on the ground between them and the pool they usually stay over by their house where they feel protected. I would totally die if one of my chickens drowned. I adore each of those babies. Thank you all for your comments. I felt like an idiot asking but I just wanted to know for certain. Thanks again! Julie
