Chicken Manure Composting with Sand

Hi, anyone here compost the chicken manure?
I use sand for the run and coops. I would like to see if and how anyone compost the chicken manure. TIA.

We use sand in our turkey shed and scoop out manure daily. We pile the manure in one place in our goat pasture. Eventually it grows over with grass. We haven't tried to harvest it. If I was looking to do that I'd probably try to layer the manure with greens and other materials.

Thank you for responding. I am thinking on composting in a tumbler for 6 months and hen use it in my garden.

That should be an adequate time for the manure to mellow. I'm reading 6-8 weeks. We generally compost manure a whole season here. Are you are mixing in other materials? Or straight manure?

I am mixing it with kitchen scraps (veggies/fruits), saw dust, brown paper, leaves, ashes, coffee grounds, etc.

If it's from lumber, make sure it's untreated.

Sounds like you're going to have some great compost!

I will....the saw dust I have. at the moment, is the compressed bedding pellets, so they should be safe. Thank you!
