The air cell gets bigger closer to hatch, and dips down in a slope. The 2 eggs with the biggest slope so far on day 15 were Tami, and Bobi.
On day 16 the point should be dark. (If by day 18 the pointed tip is not dark the egg may take longer to hatch and is not ready for a lock down.) Some people new hatchers have said, "my egg has 2 aircells." where the tip was clear. It is not 2 aircells, the egg just needs to absorb more.
If the egg point is dark, and the air cell has a slope, I lay it on it's side slope up...mark with an x and that is where the first pip will be.

Lockdown is day 18, then don't open for 5 days until they all hatch, (check on day 22 or so) no helping at all. Helping is how you wreck chicks.

Most will start to hatch day 20. 24 hrs after they started hatching you can move chicks out that did hatch, then figure out why they others didn't while not disturbing too much, but I will get to that later.
