My son and I have been discussing getting a turkey. I am in the research phase of this endeavor. We already own a 20 chickens but would like to own a turkey so I have some questions...
Can we have just 1 and if so should it be a hen or tom?
With a very low occurrence of Black Head in my area would it still be ok to house it with my chickens?
If I build a house for it do they need a roost or can it be something more like for ducks?
We want something that is more eye candy so what is a good beautiful heritage breed?
If we decide to butcher for meat what is the best meat bird?
How often do hens lay eggs?
