cutting mallard dewclaw

Is it too late to cut off my mallards dewclaw? i hatched her from an egg and wasn’t sure if she was a mallard or rouen, since i had 2 other rouen’s hatch in the same clutch, so i just never cut it. but now she’s 4 months old and i know she’s 100% a mallard. would it hurt her if i cut it off now to show that she is still a domestic pet mallard? if i should still, how should i do it?

I’d think your going to have some serious bleeding. I wouldn’t Advise it at the age she is now. Can you band her? And keep her from flying by clipping her wing?

thank you, i was thinking that but i wasn’t sure. yes, one of her wings are clipped & i can get a band for her soon
