I have 9 Belgian Bearded D’anvers with a momma hen that are now just over 4 weeks old. It may be a tad too early to tell, but the genders seem to be emerging. I know (99.99%) that these first three are cockerels, but the rest are confusing me. None of them have any waddle development, and there is so far no difference in tail and saddle feather shape or length. The combs, however, vary wildly.

Disclaimer: I wasn’t choking the last one  it’s really hot out so they are panting.

Even if you can’t tell, some guesses to compare to the reality that will emerge eventually?

Thank you for reading and/or responding!

I agree, looks like three cockerels and 6 pullets.

Looks like you got lucky with the colours!

If you plan on breeding them you could have:

A quad of lavender/black splits with a lavender hen and 2 black hens with the chicks from the black hens being black but carrying lavender.

A Quail pair

A trio of blue quail (the hens look light and could be splash quail)
