Damp dust baths???

It has been in the triple digits for over a week. I noticed before the storms last night, that it had been several days since I had seen my chickens dust bathe. It cooled off yesterday right before the storms. Today, all of them at some point or other have been "dust" bathing like crazy in the damp soil. Does it work just as well, or are they just enjoying the cool soil?

Yup, my little chicklet has been up to it as well. I think it's probably a lot more cooling than the regular dust. Whether it works for parasites and such as well I am not sure but for educated guess I'd say yes.
