I'm really scared right now because this hasn't happened to me before. I went to my coop to check on my silkies this morning and I have a single chick that lives with them. The chick was about a week week and a half maybe but I found them dead where they slept this morning I'm guessing they died in their sleep. This is the first time I had a chick with a mom but she's devastated. I picked up the poor chick and looked at it to see if I could see what was wrong and saw that their vent was a massive hole about the size of a dime. There was all this yellow stuff in it, I don't know if that's normal to have yellow stuff there. But I've NEVER in my years have seen this and I'm quite scared. Can someone help please. I didn't get a picture cause I didn't think about it but I guess you didn't wake up today wanting to see a dead chicks vent.

I'll start to say that I'm sorry for your loss. :(

Now the gross part, flies lay eggs in the face and "butt" areas of dead things.
