Hello,

I recently acquired a few ducklings & geese from a hatchery. My Jumbo Peking seems to have (overnight, literally) grown a deformity! Last night she was zooming around & playing with the others. She cannot walk & is obviously having trouble getting around. šŸ„ŗ

Upon further inspection, it looks like her feet are turning inwards! Is there any way I can fix this?! Can anyone give me tips or advice on how to deal with this? We have a vet that my birds usually see.. however, she isn't a specialist.

Thank you in advance! (Also, sorry for the bad pictures.)

What feed are you giving. Get some human B complex vitamins at any vitamin counter right away and give 1/4 tablet crushed into a spoonful of water, and give slowly orally. Or get B complex injectable from a feed store, and give 1 ml by mouth daily. I will tag @Miss Lydia for more help.

If your duckling is eating good I'd go with the liquid B Complex TSC it will say injectable but we give it over a tasty treat like a small number of mealworms. Also if you don't have a TSC like @Eggcessive said human B complex will work. What your seeing is pretty common with ducklings that grow fast like Pekins so get this duckling started asap so you can get this under control fast.
Here is info and also doses for age of your duckling.

Thank you for the info! I'm headed to town in a few & won't stop my search until I find something!
So the injectable is ok to give orally?

I second this but would also add
Putting nutritional yeast 1tbs to 1cup feed till at least 12 weeks
Then sprinkle it on feed not measuring a few times a week or even every day
With the vitamin B complex you will need to do this 2-3 weeks once baby is fully better you can go one more week.
Goslings need even more Niacin then ducklings so having the extra through the nutritional yeast is very important
Donā€™t put in water jugs as it gets to diluted and no guarantee baby gets the proper amount

I planned to do both! I'm not sure I can find nutritional yeast in my town, but if not, I'll have it overnighted. I've read that you can't overdose on niacin? Would be doing both be overkill? I want them to have the best!
