Hi!
This is my 5th year of incubating duckling eggs but the earliest I’ve done it (usually do it in April/May, but had to do it early this year because I’m travelling).
I’m worried that the eggs I have are not fertile as when I candle them I don’t see development. I’m on day 5/6 today (they were paid Tuesday and put in the incubator Tuesday afternoon)

This is what they look like right now. Last year, I had heartbeats by day 3 so I’m just thinking maybe somethings not quite right? The picture below is from day 3 in 2022, last years batch

Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks

yes, they don't quite look right, are there any veins yet as it's about a week later?
if not they probably aren't fertile. Are eggs from your own ducks or from a shop or eBay?
where are you? I know in England you wouldn't be getting fertile duck eggs quite yet

We get them from our own ducks, but it is the earliest we have ever done them. There’s definitely nothing there so we’ve turned the incubator off and we’ll put on another batch in summer when we’re back!
Thanks!

Here are my Muscovy eggs from my own ducks that we are incubating. Day 5.
This is my first time incubating Muscovy eggs and I’ve heard it’s next to impossible.
What breed are your ducks?
I wasn’t prepared for a clutch in the middle of winter and it’s her first clutch!
I’m a nervous wreck because we desperately want to add to our little Duck family.
Have you had good luck incubating?
I’d give them a few more days. My Wood duck eggs from last summer literally changed overnight, just as I was ready to give up!
Good luck and keep us posted. 🥰
