Duffs Big Adventure with a Flying Mouse

This is Angus MacDuff, our Westie in his usual toy fetching mode:

Here he is looking out the window from his old house in Delaware for vermin of any type!

And...his day job of official peep greeter!

Little did he know, one night, he would go out to help lock up the chickens, only to encounter.......

the flying mouse!!!
Isn't this the cutest little thing? Southern Flying Squirrel. It was picking some oats out of a bucket on my goat milking stand. Duff did a little barking and then we left it be.

Those teeny-tiny flying squirrels are most appealing creature in the world --- sorry, but they are even cuter than baby chicks --
we get them on our bird feeders in the evenings --

It was so adorable and so enchanting I think I will put a bird feeder there just to see more of them. Lucky you!

I had a captive born male and a wild female who was missing a leg, they had babies and I released them all at the sanctuary. I had my little man for 8 years, you would not believe how soft they are!

If you put up bird houses when it gets cold they will nest in there, I have heard of people here in florida who will get 30 or more of them sleeping in one bird house on winter days.

Would they like a bird box like a tree cavity rather than a bluebird type do you think?
