Hello, does anyone breed Egyptian Fayoumis from non-hatchery stock? I am interested in preserving the breed and/or crossing them with Edward Shepards Araucanas.

Does anyone have any experience with the breed, or know if hatchery stock is any true representation of the breed. Strombergs sells hatching eggs. Has anyone ordered from them before?

Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I had a pair of these birds many years ago that I think I ordered from Murray McMurray hatchery. They came as day old chicks in a mixed set. The little guy gets the prize for being the earliest to crow. If I remember right, he crowed within 4 months. The little lady was a dependable layer of medium off-white eggs. I didn’t know these were on the endangered list. Good luck!
