Everything Asil Thread ( show off those Asil )

LOL, no, not at all. And it's not just with Asils, or Gamefowl for that matter. They have "lines" that they are. For example, I have 100% Asils (breed) that are part Harris Reynolds (line) and part Saab Viper (line). The "line" name comes from the original breeder. It's like a stamp, a description. Denoting what the original breeder had bred, and his birds particular nuances. A line should also throw fairly consistent offspring, so it's not just a one time whacko cross that you can name as your own line. After you have bred someone's line for a long time, then you can possibly give them your own name. Mainly because they will likely have been altered, for better or worse, by your selection (or lack of) process (but then that may be taking credit that doesn't belong to you). And if you cross them with another breed OR even line, then you have to acknowledge them as such. But really it's not that easy to start your own legit "line". That's why I have Harris Reynolds x Saab Vipers and not.....Um......"Saaynold Asil". Best of all, keep them straight, select rigidly and call them what they are, give credit where it belongs and try not to shame someones line....
I actually don't know best on that subject, I'm looking forward to what you other guys have to say.
BTW, CF, some searches will bring up more results then we could provide.

We got this big boy a few weeks ago from a friend who couldn't keep him in the city limits. I posted some pics to get help identifying him and was led to believe that he's possibly Asil. He's around 4-5 months old. What do you guys think?

Actually Vipers are not 100% Asil.
Ah yes, I recently caught wind of that (which I'm not crazy about). Seems like there is actually a lot of strife between those who say they are Asil and those who say they aren't. What was it, Brazilian, they have in their background? Or was it a bird from unknown ancestry that was gifted to Mr. Saab? I can't remember with all those opposing ideas running through my head!
