Went to the club and dodged raindrops for an hour or so. Saw the first woodcock of the season. Saw signs of their presence, but this is the first bird I have seen. They used to breed here, but haven't in several years. I miss seeing and hearing their mating dances.
Those damn Grackles, flock of thirty are under the feeder and making a hell of a racket, fortunately not chasing other "desirable" birds away. Hanging Humming Bird feeders tomorrow.First grackle of the year showed up today. The female Red-wings shouldn't be far behind.
I like the grackles here because they run the starlings out. Those damn Grackles, flock of thirty are under the feeder and making a hell of a racket, fortunately not chasing other "desirable" birds away. Hanging Humming Bird feeders tomorrow.

Never saw a Cardinal here. I put out BOSS. The birds will toss the regular mixes going through them for the sunflower seeds that are mixed in.I ended up switching to safflower seed to keep my starlings off the feeder. I don’t get the cardinals and some of the other birds, but with that lot dominating the food I wasn’t going to anyway.
Another useless import, not too many Starlings here.I like the grackles here because they run the starlings out.
None here this spring. The Feds poisoned them over the winter. There were dead starlings everywhere.Another useless import, not too many Starlings here.
