Hello....
We just began our adventure of raising chicks. We are currently are parents (3-adults), grandparents and dog lovers. Our kids have mostly 'flown the coop' and so we decided to add to our home flock, some chickens. My husband grew up on a farm and I'm a city girl. So, bear with me as I will surely have many questions along the way.
We recently picked up 6 chicks to start our flock: 2-salmon favorelle, 2-lavender orpington, 1-green queen, 1-white crested black Polish. All were same day hatched and will turn two this week. It's a bit of an odd mix but we chose the first four and decided to add two more on pick up day. The Polish was the most spontaneous of our choices and, well, I'm just hoping it will turn out to be a good one. Time will tell.
We are so excited for this new adventure and looking forward to many years of raising chickens and lots of eggs! So far, just reading on this forum has been incredibly informative and helpful. Looking forward to being part of this community.
