Where does the name Legertha come from Bob?
There is a famous viking warrior named in a similar fashion. According to legend, "Lagertha" was a Viking shield-maiden and ruler. I changed the name slightly because I liked it better with an "e".
 
The marans all got banded to be able to id them. He tried a fast one: limping when being watched, standing on one foot, preventing he couldn't walk on it....for the WRONG (unbanded leg). Ok, like the toddler having a drama moment...band em both!

I'm of Swedish origins myself, so I had to name one of my hens a nordic themed name!

Astrid is my white splash olive egger, and I have always loved that name!
(Astrid is an old Scandinavian name that means “divinely beautiful")
