fuzzi's Chicken Journal

Pics
I haven't set up my 5 gallon waterer yet but was planning on doing so soon. Then today I saw a post by @BarnyardChaos in which a similar waterer had a lid with a screwtop opening in the lid, to make it easier to refill with a hose. What a great idea!

A trip to AgriSupply and $5.00 have just upgraded my waterer. I love this place!

Not sure where to post this video. It's about a turkey processing plant and what they're doing to the employees and USDA inspectors with disinfecting chemicals sprayed on the birds. Well done report, short and to the point:

Something to consider when debating the pros and cons of raising/eating your own birds.

I spent the afternoon reorganizing and cleaning our shed, so after supper as I approached the coop I was tickled when the chicks came running towards me. Of course they got some pill bugs. When those were eaten the chicks decided to roost on their A frame. And then fly from the roost to Chicken Mom:

My head is in that hat!

Then two of the flock flew over and landed on my phone while I was trying to take pictures! I needed another camera to capture them perched on the phone.

Checking out some wild strawberries I found growing by the back door:

Blondie is getting darker, but still is the lightest in the flock:
